Information

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

This class focuses on how various types of texts ('literature' in the conventional sense, art, advertising, music etc. contribute to creating different types of cultural milieus and shaping how we perceive and interpret cultural realities.
We will be looking at texts of from different stages in the development of cultures where English has been primarily spoken as a first language as well the influence of 'English' as a language and culture of imperialism and globalisation.

This will be an interactive lecture. in other words, you will be expected to read, look at and/or listen to texts independently as well as during the lecture.
We will discuss together which texts to analyse and from which perspective/s this should be done.
