Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

To become aware of different types of texts and their requirements with special attention given to various text functions and types, media, target groups, writing processes, revision and argumentation. Furthermore, students should be able to improve and further develop their comprehension, writing, speaking and presentation skills.

To achieve these objectives, we will look at and work with different types of texts (written, audio and audiovisual), formats and genres in reading and listening activities, writing assignments and presentations. Assignments will be prepared individually and in groups, completed at home and presented in class for discussion.
Students will achieve the course objectives by
- analysing and assessing a variety of texts (in individual/group projects)
- writing, adapting/rewriting and optimising texts for various situations, target groups and media
- reflecting on and discussing various steps in the text production process
- incorporating theoretical input given in class in their assignments and applying strategies and methods accordingly.
