Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

Development of reading comprehension strategies and reading-based writing skills.

Students acquire textual analysis methods that enable them to understand and discuss texts as communicative events. They improve reading comprehension skills and text-based writing, with a focus on exploring different types of meaning, organizing texts, and integrating sources.

Methods used include in-class reading and writing activities (individual, pair, and group work), online activities, home assignments in reading comprehension and text production.

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

Students take two written exams in the course of the semester, at which a monolingual dictionary is allowed.

Attendance is mandatory.

Grading is based on participation in class and in online activities (20%), mid-term test (20%), final test (20%), and writing assignment(s) (40%).

All aspect of the course need to be accomplished in order to receive a positive grade
