Information

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

This course will offer an overview into the field of Applied Biomechanics an its underlying methods, especially focusing on motion and gait analyses.

Following topics will be discussed:
* Introduction into methods of motion and gait analyses
* Measurement of two-dimensional kinematics during gait
* Three-dimensional kinematics
* Biomechanics of standing - postural sway
* Ground reaction force during normal gait
* Kinetic parameters during gait

Prerequisites:
* Basic knowledge in Excel
* Basic knowledge in English

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

* Group work for analyses of example - data during the lecture
* Short term paper of captured data and subsequent analyses
* Participation in lecture, discussion and practical work in the laboratory

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

* Provide students with a basic understanding of biomechanics during gait and standing and methods for measuring / estimating kinematics and kinetics.
* Students should be able to carry out simple (two-dimensional) motion analyses and should be able to calculate kinematic parameters of body segments after this course.
* Further students should be able to understand the basic modeling approaches which are used in motion and gait analyses and their limitations.
* Make Students sensitive to understand the essence of problems in (human) motion analysis and to create an idea of the methodical issues. Deeper insight into the problems is provided by recommendations of suitable literature.

Prüfungsstoff

* oral presentation and discussion
* group work: analyses of given data and examples
* group work: capturing data in the Biomechanics Laboratory
