Information

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

Human rights documentaries are a powerful tool when it comes to raising the awareness for human rights violations. In a unique manner films can draw the public attention to specific countries or regions where human rights are violated and at the same time empower those whose rights are violated. In addition it allows the viewer to go beyond the theoretical knowledge of human rights issues.
The aim of the seminar is to utilise human documentaries as human rights case studies
As such, it is intended to introduce students to a human rights focused analysis of films, sensitize students for the rights in question and familiarize them with the legal foundation.
The course thus allows students to conduct human rights case studies on the basis of human rights documentaries, to critically asses their own academic works as welöl as that of their fellow students. It further provides the opportunity to practice and further their presentation and discussion skills.
