Information

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

This course is targeted to PhD students with a specialization in managerial accounting. The objectives of the course are twofold: (i) We discuss your current research and (ii) we prepare for talks of international researchers that we attend (e.g., from the DART program). For sake of preparation, you have to write a short summary for each seminar paper. The summary should discuss the following issues:
• What are the basic modeling assumptions?
• What are the main results and how would you explain them in simple language?
• Are there any aspects of the model that might be at odds with your understanding of the scenario they analyze? If so, describe them.
• How does this paper contribute to its relevant literature and/or our understanding of the scenario the authors analyze?
The course requires a sound knowledge of analytical modelling. The course is interactive and places a strong emphasis on student participation. The talks will be assigned in the first session and attendance is mandatory.

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

The following two elements will determine your final grade:
• 1/2 for the preparations of the assigned talks and
• 1/2 for two presentations of your research.
