Information

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

The seminar addresses PhD students in anthropology aiming at writing their thesis on basis of ethnographic research. One of the most often experienced problems for PhD students is to develop a theoretically grounded argument out of the specific ethnographic data. Therefore, the course aims at creating a forum for discussion that open ways to synchronize theory and practice. Phd-students are expected to share and discuss their research plans/preliminary findings/draft chapters work within the group in a safe atmosphere. The aim of constructive feedback is to allow for an embedding and further development within disciplinary theoretical discourses. Openness to constructive criticism, but also to engagement with ideas of peers are crucial aspects required for successful participation.
