Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

The colloquium is open to advanced PhD students who are writing (parts of) their thesis, and who work conceptually, empirically, or methodologically on topics of digital media, use digital trace data (such as data from social media), or work with digital/computational methods (such as text or data mining, network analysis, machine learning, or computational modeling & simulation). Participants will present a chapter/paper of their thesis, peer-review two other papers and actively take part in in-class discussions of the work of other participants. The colloquium is also a safe place to raise and discuss issues that arise in all parts of the research process of the doctoral thesis.

Written work can be submitted in German or English.

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

Course grading is based on the peer reviews (40%) and the final term paper (= revised paper/chapter with action letter) (60%).
