Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung
Students will learn the most important aspects to be considered when designing their own surveys: different surveying techniques, sampling techniques and sampling errors, measurement and the psychology of survey response, questionnaire design and techniques to assess measurement errors (e.g. cognitive interviewing). Survey experiments will also be discussed briefly.
Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel
participation in the discussions in class, developing a questionnaire, conducting two cognitive interviews, written paper (approx. 10 pages).
Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab
The course enables students to plan and carry out their own survey, assess its quality and report how the survey was conducted. They will learn to develop a questionnaire and improve it using cogntive interviews.
Prüfungsstoff
Contents will be discussed in class. Students will put everything into practise, applying the methods and techniques to their own research question.
