Information
Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung
Lehrende: Tatjana ThelenThe workshop aims to support PhD students, who apply an ethnographic methodology in their research with developing their interpretation and writing of their thesis. One of the most often experienced problems for PhD-students is to develop a theoretically grounded argument out of the specific ethnographic data. Therefore, the course aims at creating a safe space for discussion of preliminary interpretations and difficulties. PhD-students are expected to share and discuss their preliminary findings and draft chapters within the group. The course will be directed at opening ways to synchronize theory and practice through joint discussion. The aim of constructive feedback within this framework is to encourage the embedding and further development of ethnographic writing within theoretical discourses. Openness to constructive criticism, but also to engagement with ideas of peers are crucial aspects required for successful participation.
