Information

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

The course is aimed at PhD students who are (partly) using qualitative methododological approaches to their research projects and related research problems. It attempts to provide tailored support in order to advance, respectively fine-tune the methodological design of the individual PhD projects and discuss relevant methods of data collection and analysis. Hence, the course is intended to focus on students' concrete project-related interests and needs.
Participants are encouraged to briefly present their PhD project and indicate their particular interest during the first meeting on 15 March. Subsequently, individual consultations with the lecturer are intended to discuss the methodological part of the thesis in more detail.
The following meetings will be structured based on the findings obtained in the course of the presentations and individual consultations.

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

Active participation (presentations, individual consultations, group work, plenary discussions, presentations): 30%
Seminar paper (related to the methodological design of the PhD project): 70%
Attendance is mandatory. Roll will be kept. One unexcused absence is acceptable.

Not applicable.

Literatur

A preliminary reading list will be distributed in class and further reading will continuously be added.
Selected articles and book chapters will also be provided on Moodle.
