Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung
The course is intended for PhD and Master’s students in the social sciences, in general, and political science, in particular, who have started or are planning to start empirical research projects that uses or may use grounded theory and/or situational analysis. The course focus is on research design and data analysis. It is designed as an intensive course that combines interactive lectures with seminars and practical exercises. Students will be enabled to work through their own research projects and in groups on one another’s projects in order to understand and use grounded theory and situational analysis as theory-methods packages.

Literatur
This course will rely on two textbooks on grounded theory and situational analysis as well as an edited volume that brings together different articles using situational analysis with author reflections on their analytic process. Students are further urged to consult the companion website to Situational Analysis: Grounded Theory After the Interpretive Turn 2nd Edition at https://study.sagepub.com/clarke2e.
