Information
Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung
This course will be very wide ranging, and will allow participants to play to their strengths and interests (regarding physical sedimentology, geochemistry, geochronology, geodynamics) as appropriate. Because of the extent of the literature on this topic, we will probably approach the subject material on a themed basis, with the themes connected to specific (with emphasis on recent) papers. Participants will gain the opportunity to practice presenting, discussing, and defending subject material that is probably slightly out of their area of expertise. This skill- gaining rapid familiarity and overview of a subject- is a vital transferable skill to the workplace for all geoscience graduates.
Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel
Adequate participation in the seminars is required, including presentation of material suggested by the course leader, for successful completion.
Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab
The course will probably mostly consist of PhD level students. It is expected that participants will have a Bachelors diploma at the beginning. Ability to discuss and communicate in English is important.
Prüfungsstoff
Various, but pertaining to the general theme of the sedimentological aspects of Precambrian glaciations.
Literatur
Papers will be provided on a session-by-session basis and will form the skeleton of the course.
