This course introduces modern analytical methods for reconstructing evolutionary trends in the fossil record. It is mandatory for all PhD students of the Institute of Palaeontology. MSc students are welcomed. The lecture will be in English.

This course focuses on following topics (preliminary):
1) Phylogenetically corrected and time-calibrated estimates of palaeodiversity

2) Morphological disparity: character-based approaches

3) Morphological disparity: morphometrics approaches

4) Amniote and amphibian turnover through major biological crises

5) Rates of diversification and the fossil record
