Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

Aims and contents: During this seminar we will present and discuss classic and pioneer papers on the field of star formation. By dissecting several of the most influential papers in the last century the goal of this lecture is to introduce some of the most relevant results on the field, the historical context in which these ideas were presented, the technological developments that made them possible, and their implication for later studies.

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

The seminar is in English. Attendance with active participation in the scientific discussions as well as at least one (informal) presentation.

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

During this course, each student will be assigned to a key paper(s) selected by their relevance in the field. With the assistance of the lecturers, the students will have the opportunity to investigate the references, results, and implications of this research. Each student will show their findings in an oral presentation followed by an open discussion and questions with the rest of the class.

Participants will be graded according to the quality of their presentation, the clarity of the concepts explained there, as well as their active participation in other discussions and talks.

Minimum requirements:
- presence (minimum 90%)
- oral presentation
- active participation
