Die facettenreiche Romantheorie des russischen Literaturtheoretikers und Literaturhistorikers Michail Bachtin wird in ihren Entwicklungsphasen und damit wandelbarem historischen Kontext ausführlich vorgestellt werden. Sie wird ebenso in Bachtins Sprachphilosophie und Kulturtheorie verortet und mit anderen Romantheorien verglichen werden. Abschließend werden wir aus der Perspektive dieser Theorie drei südslawische Romane interpretieren: Ivo Andrić, Prokleta avlija; Vladan Desnica, Proljeća
