Curricula prior to 2015: Written exam about the topics of the two lectures of the academic year at the end of summer term. Eight to ten verses of a simple narrative text will have to be translated.
Permitted materials: Dictionary and grammar charts.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Analysis and translation of easy Biblical Hebrew texts; command of the essential rules of Hebrew grammar; competence to judge foreign language translations regarding their rendition of the original text.

Examination topics

The course is taught as a combination of the lecture and active participation of the students in class. Additionally, exercises on „Moodle“ are offered. There is also a tutorial supporting the course ("Biblisches Hebräisch 1 - Tutorial, Thursdays"). Attendance is strongly recommended.
