Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Theological Ethics are set in a world where a variety of gender relations exists. As a theological discipline, theological ethics want to reflect these relations in the light of Christian belief today. Therefore, we first have to take a close look at the plural reality of lifestyles today. Secondly, we will examine central positions of the ecclesial tradition concerning marriage and sexuality. This forms the background for understanding the present-day teaching of the Catholic Church. In a third step, we will turn to different ethical conceptions including their anthropological backgrounds and implications. In the final part of this lecture, specific norms concerning different areas of gender relations (marriage as place of dignity, divorce and remarriage, domestic partnerships, same-sex relationships …) will be discussed.
