Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The lecture complements the lecture "Social Ethics I". In the area of basic social ethics, it concentrates on social theoretical aspects and the normative orientations of human rights, sustainability and just participation. In the area of the contexts of Christian social ethics, the focus is on politics, economics and technology/digitality. The topics of social ethics are likely to be media, religions/freedom of religion, migration/world poverty and war/conflicts/peace.
Note: The lecture is designed as a face-to-face event. All lectures will also be broadcast and recorded live via Zoom and can be watched until the last exam date. Information on this will follow in the Moodle course of the event.

Assessment and permitted materials

Oral examination of 20 minutes each on four announced dates. A TEMPUS registration 6-2 days before the exam is necessary in addition to the u:space registration.

The course examination is held in German.

At the student's request and upon request at sozialethik@univie.ac.at, the examination can also be held in English.

Permitted aids for the examination: none

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

A positive assessment of the examination is achieved if at least half of the maximum number of points is obtained (grade 4). The other grades are calculated in a linear fashion. A very good performance (grade 1) is achieved if the requirements are fulfilled to a degree that goes far beyond the essentials.

Examination topics

The examination material is the lecture content and any agreed compulsory reading.
