Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The aim of the course is to examine (on site) the liturgical diversity within the Roman Catholic Church using the example of the Milanese and the Old Spanish Rite as well as the Usus of Braga. Students should develop a differentiated picture of the non-Roman Western rites and their forms of celebration. Encounters and exchanges with representatives of the various liturgical rites, visits to church services and visits to important cultural monuments and archaeological sites should provide an insight into the particular characteristics of the Catholic Church in these countries. Furthermore, the ability for ecumenical and intercultural (as well as interreligious) dialog should be deepened. The challenges and opportunities of current church and religious life in Italy, Spain and Portugal should be presented.
Preparation for the excursion through participation in 010011 SE Zwischen Uniformität und Vielfalt: Westliche, nicht-Römische Liturgietraditionen von Diözesen und Orden (2025S) is compulsory.
