Aims, contents and method of the course
Assessment and permitted materials
Active participation in the course will be graded as well as exercises (assignments, learning diary, …), the oral presentation of scientific interpretations and didactic models and the seminar paper (12-15 pages).
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Attendance is mandatory. A maximum absence time of three units (à 1.5h) can be excused if compensated for by additional exercises. Each part of the performance is graded independently.• seminar paper 50%

• to become familiar with basic approaches to studying and teaching the Bible;
• to understand and interpret Biblical texts and themes in the interaction of their relevance for life and didactic demands;
• to develop and apply instruments for the critical evaluation of materials and concepts for teaching the Bible from a scientific and didactic perspective.Course contents:
In the course, texts from the stories of the patriarchs and matriarchs in the Book of Genesis will be discussed from an exegetic and didactic perspective, with a special focus on the exegetic, didactic and practical aspects of teaching the Bible which must be considered in order to organize lessons with regard to the interaction of text-orientation, didactic demands and the needs of the pupils.Methods:
Based on sample texts from the Book of Genesis and the hermeneutic approaches discussed in the course, teaching concepts for the encounter with Biblical texts in the context of religious education will be developed and presented.• presentation and analysis of exegetic approaches and didactic models;
• independent preparation of special topics in teams;
• short presentations;
• e-learning;
• learning diary;
• seminar paper.
