Die Vorlesung vermittelt anhand eines Durchgangs durch die Geschichte der Moraltheologie ein differenziertes, vertieftes Verständnis zentraler theologisch-ethischer Ansätzen und führt durch Textlektüre und themenbezogene Exkursionen zu einem breiten Verständnis der moraltheologischen Tradition und zu möglichen Lösungsansätzen für heutige Fragen.

Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The lecture is dedicated to different paradigms which formed and form theological ethical reflection. By using historical and current examples, this course offers in-depth-studies to selected theological-ethical issues, which have been introduced by the Basic lecture course on Moral Theology. During this semester, a special emphasis will be laid on the development of the notion of conscience. This course requires basic knowledge of ethics or Moral Theology at the level of the Basic course Theological Ethics I and II, or of an interoductory book.
Assessment and permitted materials
Oral exam (in English, Spanish, Italian, French on request).
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The oral exam will look at the ability of the candidates to explain anonymous moral thoelogical texts and to place them in line with other authors according to their systematic approach to the field of moral theology.
Examination topics
Lecture, reading of passages of original texts, discussion and excursion in Vienna.
