Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The lecture offers an introduction to the systematic approaches of a philosophical anthropology. The first part gives a rough overview of the philosophical teaching in the history of European philosophy. In the second part, the ongoing debates about the meaning and possibilities of a "philosophical anthropology" as developed in the 20th century by Max Scheler, Helmut Plessner and Arnold Gehlen are presented.
Preview: In the advanced course Philosophical Anthropology (2024S), special topics of philosophical anthropology will be examined against the background of current scientific and social challenges.
Method: Lecture with opportunity for discussion.

Assessment and permitted materials

Mainly written exams. The exam is usually held in German, although English and Spanish are feasible if needed.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

In order to pass the exam, sufficient expertise has to be proven, at least 51% of achievable points.
