Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

In this seminar, we will read selected documents of the Second Vatican Council which are relevant for theological ethical reflection. Through the study of the texts we will become aware of the change in the paradigm of theological ethics during the twentieth century, from a static, neo-scholastic to a dynamic personal approach.

Assessment and permitted materials

- preparation of an introductory paper
- contributions to the discussion
- submission of a written paper

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

- to know the hermeneutical approach of the Second Vatican Council and its relevance for theological ethical reflection
- to develop sensibility for an adequate interpretation of the texts issued by the Council
- a thorough knowledge of the main theological ethical topics treated by the Vatican II

Examination topics

- introductory papers which stimulate reflection and discussion
- reading of texts of Vatican II
- group discussions and text interpretation
