Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The growing importance of religions in many societies and politics all over the world can be seen as "sign of time", which puts also the Human Rights into a new context. Between the secular legitimated Human Rights and the religions are tensions as well as mutual influences possible.
This seminar will give an introduction into this issue; it will focus on the relationship of Human Rights and religions, in which fundamental questions are to be shown as well as questions concerning different world religions. Lectures of representatives of different religious denominations and churches from Austria and excursion will help to get a better understanding of these issues.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Introduction into the Human Rights issue and analysis of the question concerning the relationship between Human Rights and single religions, consolidation through personal contacts (lectures) and excursions.
