Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This course is part of the EC Communications and Media Ethics. A prerequisite for participation is the successful completion of the course "Communications and Media Ethics" (Prof. Dr. Alexander Filipovic).

The course Media Ethics aims to independently and practically apply the knowledge acquired in the lecture "Communications and Media Ethics" using examples. It involves engaging with (ethical) discourses in practice, focusing on developing content and expanding skills in shaping discourses and handling media.

The objective of the course is to convey and acquire skills in reflection and evaluation within the realm of media ethics. It aims to empower students to recognize media ethical issues and challenges, analyze them using ethical principles, reflect upon them, and develop possible approaches or solutions. Ultimately, the course seeks to encourage critical evaluation and questioning of one's behavior in dealing with (social) media.

The UE consists predominantly of group work: each group selects an overarching theme and elaborates on it through two (mini) projects.

If the overall group size is smaller this semester, we will collaboratively develop a research project on a chosen overarching theme.
