Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

At the end of the course, students can
• describe and apply methods of historical-critical exegesis
• understand and critically evaluate exegetical literature
• write a seminar paper in accordance with scientific standards. This includes logical reasoning, correct citation of academic literature and compliance with formal guidelines.

Methods:
• lectures
• reading
• homework and creating an E-Portfolio
• group work in the course

The course will be taught in German, but it is possible to write the seminar paper in English. Students with a limited knowledge of German are asked to contact the teacher before the course.

Assessment and permitted materials

Attendance at the first session is mandatory!
Apart from active and regular participation, all relevant work must be completed in written form. This includes various (home) exercises and a final e-portfolio. The course is graded in descending order from 1-5 (1=very good; 5=insufficient).

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The weighting of the partial performances is distributed as follows:
50% homework (punctual submission obligatory)
25% e-portfolio
15% punctuality and active participation
10% Layout, style and correct adherence to the criteria of academic work

The grading is broken down as follows:
100-95% = 1
94-81% = 2
80-71% = 3
70-61% = 4
<61% = 5

Students who achieve less than 61%, are unsatisfactory in one of the two areas of homework and/or e-portfolio and/or miss more than 3 units without being excused receive a fail grade.

Examination topics

All content covered in the course, in particular the subject-specific and didactic content and considerations of your own and the methodological steps presented in the seminar. Supporting learning material can be found on Moodle.
