The seminar is also intended to provide basic information for non-theology students (religious studies, ethnology, cultural studies).Content: Rites and rituals play an elementary role in most religions and also in the secular world. This is especially true for the Christian liturgy. The forms of expression and signs in which liturgy "happens" and takes shape are as diverse as the theological and anthropological aspects of liturgy. Divine service is only real and effective as a living action, as a bodily communication process in the congregation and with God, because "through sensual signs the sanctification of man" and the glorification of God are signified and brought about (Liturgy Constitution Art. 7). In this dialogical process of signs between God and his people, as well as within the celebrating congregation, man has always played an essential and constitutive role with all his spiritual and emotional powers and bodily expressions (prayer gestures such as standing, sitting, kneeling, walking). However, the entire surrounding world also comes into play with its natural elements (water, bread, wine, light, incense) as well as the created elements (candles, liturgical equipment and vestments/insignia, altar, spatial conditions, etc.) and technical aids.Method: lecture, presentation, discussion, seminar paper.
