ATTENTION: During the lockdown starting on Nov 22, the seminar will be held online. Please use the access provided on moodle.
The seminar will be held in the presence mode. In case of a deterioration of the COVID-10 situation, the method will switch to simultaneous online teaching. Those students who cannot participate in a presence mode due to medical reasons should contact Prof. Müller in advance: sigrid.mueller@univie.ac.at. In case the number of participants exceeds the capacity of the room, a simultaneous system of in presence and online will be enabled and individual presence or online participation will be fixed in the first seminar meeting.
Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
In the context of ethics and religious education, the question of interreligious and intercultural ethics is becoming increasingly important. What distinguishes a philosophical ethics from a religious ethics? How do cultural forms of ethics relate to this? The seminar explores the various ways in which the idea of God and ethics are related. To this end, different models of philosophical, theological, interreligious, and intercultural approaches will be considered.
Assessment and permitted materials
Active participation as well as presentation with handout and written seminar paper, participation in excursions, peer review of a presentation, exposé for seminar paper, and written seminar paper are expected.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Evaluation takes place regarding
- regular (students my not have more than two unexcused absences) and active participation in seminar and excursions, feed-back exercise, Exposé of written seminar paper (10%)
- presentation with handout (30%),
- written seminar paper (60%)
For a positive outcome, regular participation, at least one partial requirement of the seminar and the written seminar paper must be evaluated positively.
