Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Recently, there has been a new boom of the debate about issues in the fields of philosophy of religion and sociology of religion under the impression of an increased presence of religion in the public. Focuses lie on the relation of Religion and secular Modernity; the relation of autonomous Morals and religious Belief; and the question of violence and terror.
In this lecture, these questions shall be pursued by examining the thinking of Albert Camus, Jürgen Habermas and Charles Taylor.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Introduction to the Ethics and Philosophy of Religion of Albert Camus, Jürgen Habermas and Charles Taylor in the context of their theory of Modernity.
