Aims, contents and method of the course
Death determines the conception of the afterlife as well as this world. The different conceptions of death are retraced by discussion of the Old Testament in relation to its environement and archaeological discoveries. Funeral and mourning rituals, postmortal forms of existence and the associsation with the dead are discussed. Emphasis will be laid on the biblical wisdom texts.
