Aims, contents and method of the course

Title of the SE: (Church) historical developments of the 19th and 20th centuries as reflected in the Faculty of Protestant Theology in Vienna

The seminar deals with the development of the Protestant theological school/faculty in Vienna from its foundation in 1821 to the second half of the 20th century. The development of the faculty is placed in the wider context of historical as well as church and theological developments. The faculty is thus understood as a case study of these major developments.

Assessment and permitted materials

Students must give a presentation on a topic within the scope of the seminar and write an seminar paper on it.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The minimum requirement is attendance at at least 75 % of all seminar meetings. The assessment is based on participation in the seminar meetings (20 %), the preparation and presentation of a paper (30 %) and the writing of an seminar paper (70 %).
