Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The Church History of Euseb of Caesarea is an outstanding document for the history of Christianity in the first three centuries. Euseb is not only the "inventor" of the genre "church history", but also cites many documents that are otherwise lost. Nevertheless, he also pursues a particular goal with this work - to use the successful spread of Christianity as historical evidence of the truth of Christianity. This tendency must always be taken into account when analyzing the work.
In the seminar the history of the church will be read in selected passages.
In addition to deepening the knowledge of the beginnings of Christianity, the seminar also serves as methodological training in church historical work.

Assessment and permitted materials

Of relevance are:
Preparation of texts
active cooperation during the seminar units and reading articles on special topics of the church history
