Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Substance of the cours is the spectrum of christian monuments and art in Late Antiquity in countries of the Roman Empire (Mediterranean countries). The development of church building and other christian buildings will also be discussed, as the beginning and evolution of Christian art and the formation and background of subjects in picturing the christian world.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The participants should be able to handle with the appropriate terms of christian archeology and art, be able to denominate and describe christian buildings and works of art on their own, and should have an overview of variety and dispersion of early christian art.
