Aims, contents and method of the course

Psychology of religion is an interdisciplinary field par excellence which interlinks psychological theories and theories of religion based on different anthropologies. All notable psychological and psychotherapeutic schools were more or less involved in religion, searching for the intrapsychic emergence and function of religion for psychic processes. The psychology of religion understands itself as an empirical science, also works with empirical methods and inquires the psychosocial conditions of religious experiences, ideas and modes of behaviour.

Assessment and permitted materials

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The students shall in the end be familiar with the procedure of empirical research, the main important concepts of psychology of religion with its various anthropological premises and its various understanding of religion.

Examination topics

Lecture; overhead-presentation of significant written sources, theses, graphics and pictures which will also be handed out as a paper; with discussion.
