Aims, contents and method of the course

Der russische Patriarch vermittelt den Eindruck: Die Russische Orthodoxe Kirche unterstütz den Krieg in der Ukraine. Aber kann eine orthodoxe Kirche Krieg überhaupt gutheißen? Und falls ja, unter welchen Bedingungen?
Vor dem Hintergrund des Krieges in der Ukraine will das Seminar eine möglichst differenzierte Sicht auf den Fragenkomplex "Krieg und Frieden" aus orthodoxer Sicht ermöglichen. Themenschwerpunkte werden u. a. sein:

- Friedensethik vs. religiöse Gewaltlegitimation in Geschichte und Gegenwart

- Gemeinsamkeiten und Unterschiede in der Behandlung von Krieg und anderen Formen der Gewalt in den neueren sozialethischen Dokumenten der Orthodoxen Kirchen

- Die kirchenrechtliche Behandlung von Töten im Krieg im Vergleich mit anderern Tötungsdelikten

- Militärseelsorge und Waffensegnungen aus orthodoxer Sicht

- Die Rolle der orthodoxen Kirche/n in historischen Konflikten

- Die Russische Kirche  und die Streitkräfte: Entwicklungen nach der "Wende"

- Das russische Engagement in Afrika: Kirchliche Aktivitäten im Kontext staatlicher Militärhilfe

-  Die orthodoxen Kirchen und der Krieg in der Ukraine
