Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The course is intended as a preparation for legal work in the English language (Level C1). Topics covered in this term include employment law, real property law, IP, insolvency, competition law. The course helps develop competence and confidence in working in English by improving skills in the four language areas, reading, writing, speaking and listening. The textbook is Cambridge's "International Legal English", with additional material provided by the program leader, Susan Ambler Smith, an American-born Austrian lawyer and certified translator. The course can be taken by any student interested in developing their legal English skills. The completion of ILE 1 is not required.

Assessment and permitted materials

Compulsory homework, written exam, participation in class

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Grade "genügend" or better on final exam, completion of all homework, active participation in class
