Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Impart basic knowledge (in particular by working with sources) in selected areas of public international law, their relation to national law as well as their significance in international relations.
Lecture with material accessible via Moodle, opportunity for questions and discussion.

Assessment and permitted materials

The lecture forms part of the examination topics of the oral exam in public international law in the "Staatswissenschaftlicher Abschnitt" (third section of studies) and will be examined in this framework.
For all Erasmus students and students from other faculties a written exam will take place on 18 June 2020. In order to register for the exam please send an e-mail to Brigitte Weidinger (Brigitte.weidinger@univie.ac.at) under specification of your name, student ID number and e-mail address, between the 1 June and 13 June 2020. Registration is absolutely necessary in order to take the exam!
It is allowed to use the following book during the exam: Reinisch (Hrsg.), Österreichisches Handbuch des Völkerrechts (5. Aufl., 2013), Band 2 (Materialienteil)

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

50% of the points available at the written exam

Examination topics

Contents of the lecture, i.e. those chapters of the "Österreichisches Handbuch des Völkerrechts", or an equivalent text book, that have been discussed during the lecture
