Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The aim of the course is to provide exam-relevant and in-depth knowledge of European civil procedural law and an insight into the exciting questions of practice. On the basis of these, open and contentious issues will be discussed. The focus of the discussions is on the new Brussels I Regulation (or Brussels Ia Regulation) and international judicial assistance. The content, presented and elaborated in the style of a lecture, is deepened and sharpened with the help of ECJ and Supreme Court case law. The selection of decisions is based on importance and topicality; traditionally, the focus in this course is on the relevant case law of the last year.

The selected decisions are presented and discussed by the students.

Assessment and permitted materials

The performance assessment is carried out by presentation and discussion of an EuGH and/or Supreme Court decision as well as oral participation.
The presentation is to be prepared as a term paper with the help of relevant literature and case law.
