Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The seminar is aimed at students at an advanced stage of their studies; it is not suitable for first-year students. Individual presentations will trace the genesis of the Federal Constitutional Act 1920. The topics include the founding of the Republic of German-Austria in 1918 and the Treaty of St. Germain in 1919, the political actors (Karl Renner, Michael Mayr, Hans Kelsen and others) and the main problem areas (basic rights, federalism and others) during the consultations. Developments in Austria's neighboring states (Germany, Czechoslovakia, etc.) will also be covered.

Assessment and permitted materials

Seminar participants are required to give a 20-minute presentation (19 and 20 June) and to write a paper till 31 August.
