Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The aim of this seminar is to facilitate a deeper understanding of some special areas of public international law.
The content of the seminar encompasses topical developments in the following special areas: international investment law and arbitration, public international law and Islam, air and space law, and law of the sea.
In the first meeting, concrete topics will be presented for further discussion. Participants will write seminar papers on selected topics, which analyze and discuss them academically. In May/June, two all-day meetings will take place in which the participants present their seminar papers orally and discuss them with the other participants. Each participant will receive detailed oral and written feedback.

Assessment and permitted materials

Written seminar paper, oral presentation of the seminar paper, active participation in class.
Permitted materials include literature available in the library and internet resources. For the presentation, MS Power Point, Prezi or a similar programme should be used.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

In order to be accepted in this seminar, students must already have completed the compulsory exercises in public international law. In case of a great demand, candidates which have already passed the oral exam on public international law will be accepted on a priority basis.

Examination topics

The topics of the seminar papers and the presentations will be decided in the first meeting.
