Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This interactive course offers an introduction to the basic principles and concepts of the Roman Law of Obligations. The course covers roughly the same ground as the German UE Schuldrecht, but is taught entirely in English. Its aim is to make Roman Law accessible to students from a variety of linguistic backgrounds and to provide an introduction into Roman-Law terminology in English.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Attendance is compulsory since the course revolves around discussing cases.Two classes may be missed without excuse. Repeated absences without good reason will result in a negative grade.
For a positive grade, you will need two pass grades on the written exams; active participation in class counts towards your grade.
There is an opportunity to retake one of the two exams for this course. If you missed one of the two exams or participated in both but your performance was not sufficient for a positive grade, you may take the substitute exam.
