Aims, contents and method of the course

This lecture gives a summary both of the registered juvenile delinquency and the corresponding dark number in Austria, theories of crime and the legal system of reactions to juvenile delinquency and its practical implementation in Austria.

Assessment and permitted materials

Compulsory attendance and active participation in discussions; oral presentation of an elaborated topic

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

This lecture shall enable students to understand the specific features of juvenile delinquency and the great importance of selecting the appropriate sanctions and measures.

Examination topics

Oral presentations of students will provide the background for a discussion of selected topics such as prevention of violent crime or alternatives to traditional penal sanctions.
