Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The course provides detailed insights in problems of international law respectively the history of international law. It covers all eras of global history from ancient times until the 21st century. Studying (legal) sources will be a key element during the course lessons.ERASMUS-Students are always welcome at the course!
Assessment and permitted materials
Two written exams.Alternatively, ERASMUS-Students can take an oral exam in English or German.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Die Note ergibt sich aus dem Durchschnitt der erbrachten schriftlichen Leistungen. Eine nicht mitgeschriebene Klausur wird einem "Nicht Genügend" gleichgehalten.
Es gibt außerdem die Möglichkeit der Verbesserung durch eine freiwillige Lektüreaufgabe.

Examination topics
Der Kurs erzählt die Völkerrechtsgeschichte von ihren Anfängen bis in die Gegenwart und bestrebt eine möglichst globalgeschichtliche Perspektive einzunehmen. Dabei werden die wesentlichen Epochen und Institute sowohl der Staatenpraxis als auch der Völkerrechtswissenschaft angesprochen. Dies geschieht zunächst aus juristischer Sicht, aber auch unter Berücksichtigung von Erkenntnissen allgemeiner Geschichtswissenschaft, Politikwissenschaft (IB), Philosophie und Soziologie.
