The ICC – International Chamber of Commerce was founded in 1919 and is today the worldwide largest business organization as well as the world’s leading arbitration institution. Each year it organizes the ICC International Commercial Mediation Competition, the world’s largest moot-court exclusively devoted to international commercial mediation. For multiple days (February 2023) student teams representing a large number of different universities will gather to complete various mock mediation sessions with the objective to resolve international business disputes through mediation, pursuant to the ICC Mediation Rules. On the sidelines of around 150 mock mediation sessions, training programs and numerous social events will take place. The Bucerius Mediation Competition by BODENHEIMER is an international mediation competition organised by students of Bucerius Law School every year since 2015 and is steadily increasing in the number of participating teams and professionals. The competition is open to students from all around the world. In 2020, 22 teams from 13 different countries took part in the competition. The mediation sessions are facilitated and judged by dispute resolution professionals and people well-versed in mediation competition formats. In addition, the event provides an excellent opportunity to meet and network with dispute resolution professionals and students from all over the world. The University of Vienna will send a Team of 2 – 4 students to participate in this year’s Mediation Competitions.
