Aims, contents and method of the course

This course will cover the most important topics of international law. It will tackle legal topics which are of great importance to understand the specific characteristic of international law: contract and common law, general legal principles, decisions/resolutions of international organizations, the relation between international law and domestic law, succession of states, sovereignty or jurisdiction, citizenship and diplomatic protection, basic principles of relations between international legal personalities, especially prohibition of use of force; humanitarian law, international criminal law and international protection of human rights

Assessment and permitted materials

1. Oral participation and an oral test amount to 50% of the final mark.
2. A positive written test amounts to 50% of the final mark.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Gaining of knowledge in the field of international law, its relationship to national law as well as its connection with international relations.
