Diese LV wird in Kooperation mit der LV 030201 "Frauen im Recht"/"Women in Law", Teil B/Part B: "Frauen in den Rechtsberufen – Rechtsgeschichte" abgehalten, kann aber auch unabhängig von dieser besucht werden.

ANMELDUNG:
über u:find/u:space innerhalb der Frist UND UNBEDINGT auch persönliche Anmeldung per E-Mail an j.malekpour@alix-frank.co.at unter Angabe der LV-Nummer (diese auch im Mail-Betreff) und der Matrikelnummer .

Die Kursplätze werden nach dem Zeitpunkt der Mail-Anmeldung vergeben und auch die Themenauswahl erfolgt in dieser Reihenfolge!

Wenn die Zahl von 30 Anmeldungen per Mail erreicht ist, wird von der LV-Leitung eine Warteliste mit einer Reihung entsprechend dem Mail-Eingang angelegt. Nach dem Ende der u:find/u:space-Anmeldefrist werden ALLE über u:find/u:space-Vorgemerkten vom SSC auf den Status "Warteliste" gestellt.

Erst nach der VB werden dann diejenigen Angemeldeten, die auch tatsächlich einen SE-Platz erhalten haben, weil sie sich richtig angemeldet und in der VB anwesend waren, in den "angemeldet"-Status versetzt.

Für die Warteliste und die Reihung darauf ist nur die von der LV-Leitung auf Moodle angelegte Liste relevant und nicht ein allfälliger u:space Wartelistenplatz!! (Sollten Sie irrtümlich durch das SSC schon VOR der VB in den Status angemeldet/Warteliste gesetzt worden sein, so ist dies für die tatsächliche Aufnahme in die LV irrelevant.)

OBLIGATORISCHE TEILNAHME AN DER VORBESPRECHUNG:
Die Teilnahme an der VB ist verpflichtend. Wer ohne rechtzeitige Entschuldigung (bis spätestens 15. März 2020, 23.59) fernbleibt, verliert den bereits zugesagten Kursplatz wieder und dieser wird an andere, über u:find/u:space UND Mail bereits vorgemerkte Interessent*innen in der VB vergeben.

Aims, contents and method of the course

In 2020, we celebrate the First Centennial that women have been
admitted to study and practice law in most „Western" countries. They play a vital role in all legal professions but are still
underrepresented in most of them.

The course "Women in Law - Contemporary Issues" analyzes the current situation of women in legal professions and raises awareness in female students and male allies for challenges and obstacles women face in their legal careers.

It focuses on 5 areas, which will be discussed in an interdisciplinary setting:
- bias: conscious or unconscious - creating awareness and dealing with it
- flexibility and agility: opportunities and threats of modern
working environments
- diversity / inclusion / intersectionality: going beyond gender
- threats: physical and mental health, multiple responsibilities, etc.
- reaching the top: overcoming career obstacles

Assessment and permitted materials

Students will prepare oral presentations and a short abstract of
select topics in these focus areas.

After successfully completing the academic program, students will participate in the International "Women in Law" conference, to be held in Vienna on 5 June 2020. There, they will attend lectures and panels and actively participate in workshops given by international legal scholars and professionals to further deepen their knowledge and understanding of these focus areas.

UPDATE: Due to Covid-restrictions the International "Women in Law" conference is cancelled. Instead we offer the course-participants the opportunity to publish a paper, for Details see Moodle
