Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Case studies in private law: Obligations, property, family law, law of succession, consumer law and international private law.
Assessment and permitted materials
Two written examinations and oral participation in class.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
According to the University regulations students who are absent in the first session will be automatically deregistered from the course.Minimum requirements: To pass the course students have to successfully complete two out of three requirements (two written examinations and oral participation in class). The completion of a third requirement is not compulsory.The requirement of oral participation in class is completed if the student makes a pertinent oral contribution in at least four sessions. Each student is responsible to check that the oral contribution has been duly documented.The final mark is the arithmetic mean of the two best marks received for the requirements mentioned under point 3. The grade will be rounded to a student’s advantage if they have successfully completed a third requirement.
Examination topics
Obligations, property, family law, law of succession, consumer law and international private law.
Reading list
All cases will be uploaded to the Moodle platform before each session (please register for Moodle using the u:find platform!). Students are expected to make sure they have a copy with them when attending the class.Students find the course materials (in German) under the subsection “Studienbehelfe Bürgerliches Recht” following this link: http://zivilrecht.univie.ac.at/pruefungen/Students are required to bring along a current edition of Austrian Civil Law statutes (for example Kodex Bürgerliches Recht51, 2017).
