The course will be carried out in cooperation with the EALT Legal Writing Autumn School at Masaryk University Brno and with John Marshall Law School (Chicago) and will be held in Brno. The course focuses on writing legal texts, structuring arguments and the use of legal sources. Lectures are delivered on contract drafting, negotiation skills and strategies, organizing legal analysis and synthesizing legal sources, structured writing of academic papers, and the role of methodology in academic writing. They will include a comparative perspective on common law (US) and continental European civil law approaches.

Aims, contents and method of the course

This course will offer an introduction to the dissemination and use of legal information in various formats.
The course will focus on practical techniques and strategies for research.
Students should find the course useful to prepare for conducting a paper research and writing.
At the end of the course students should be able to find current and retrospective statutes, administrative rules and regulations, administrative decisions, cases and other litigation materials, periodical articles and books in print and online.
