Aims, contents and method of the course

Objective, content and teaching methods

Objective: Students will identify the Spanish legal system and its institutions, using and verbalising the corresponding legal terminology in Spanish.

Content:
Critical analysis of the dogmatic part of the Spanish Constitution of 1978. General knowledge of the legal and political institutions of contemporary Spain.
Updated review of the socio-political and legal reality of the Spanish State.

Teaching methods:
Based on a reading and analytical review of the Spanish Constitution, a general overview of the regulatory content will be given from a legal-political theory perspective, with an eminently reflective approach that will result in the appropriate use of the language and vocabulary of Spanish law.

Learning assessment and support resources:

The lecturer will present and analyse the regulatory content, encouraging students to reflect on it.
Students will read the documents provided for the course and participate actively during the sessions in order to demonstrate their understanding of the content. They will also write a five-page analytical essay on one of the topics covered in the course.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Assessment criteria:

High-quality oral participation in each session of the course.
Submission and presentation of the essay.
Minimum attendance of 80% of the total course.
